Celebrities at the 2025 César Film Awards

March 02, 2025 0

Celebrities at the 2025 César Film Awards

The 2025 César Film Awards took place in Paris on Friday night, and while the unofficial dress code seemed to be “wear black or else,” a few bold stars dared to break free from the sea of noir. From impeccably tailored menswear-inspired looks to ethereal embellishments and pops of unexpected color, the fashion was a delightful mix of classic French elegance and modern edge.

Here’s a roundup of the standout looks from the night:

Emmanuelle Béart – Effortlessly Cool
Emmanuelle Béart will always be one of the coolest women on the planet (alongside Rihanna, naturally). The French actress has that certain je ne sais quoi, and this custom AMI Paris off-white wool tailored coat with matching trousers, paired with a pale pink shirt and tie, only solidifies her status. Is it a little oversized? Yes, but that’s the point—it’s on-trend, intentional, and oozes Parisian nonchalance. For me, she was easily the best dressed of the night.

Anaïs Demoustier – Celestial Elegance in Celine
Anaïs Demoustier’s love affair with Celine continued as she stepped onto the red carpet in a navy caped gown adorned with embellishments, giving the look a celestial feel. Considering there was an actual planetary parade in the sky last night, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Coincidence? Maybe. Chic? Absolutely.

Bérénice Bejo – Understated Minimalism
Bérénice Bejo hasn’t always been a minimalist, but time and personal style evolve, and now she’s embracing simplicity. She opted for a pleated black dress that kept things sleek and understated. The only real eye-catcher? The necklace, which added just the right amount of sparkle to an otherwise pared-back ensemble.

Catherine Deneuve – Timeless Power Dressing
Catherine Deneuve reminded us why she remains an icon in a Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket, maxi skirt, and an embroidered top, layered under a black animal-free coat. Pomellato jewelry added the finishing touch, proving once again that elegance never goes out of style.

Élodie Bouchez – A Saint Laurent Flashback
Is Élodie Bouchez’s Saint Laurent lace dress with ribbon accents giving you déjà vu? You’re not alone. It closely resembles the dress Zoe Kravitz wore to the 2018 Met Gala, though this version is noticeably more covered-up along the sides. No surprises here as Anthony Vaccarello has been diving into the Saint Laurent archives this season, reworking past designs for the woman of the moment, Zoe Saldana.

Leïla Bekhti – The Pop of Color We Needed
The night belonged to those who opted for non-black AMI Paris looks, and Leïla Bekhti was one of them. Her custom lime green duchess satin dress, featuring intricate stitching and raw-edged finishes at the front, was already a statement piece—but then she took it up a notch with a long, double-breasted tailored coat in the same eye-catching hue. Against a backdrop of mostly black gowns, she was an instant standout.

Mallory Wanecque – Burgundy Beauty
Mallory Wanecque looked beautiful in this burgundy Dior dress embellished with delicate details. The rich color and soft shimmer added a romantic touch to the evening.

Another High-Low Moment
High-low hemlines had their moment on this red carpet, thanks to Zoe Saldana and Souheila Yacoub. The latter graced the event in a one-shoulder velvet Balenciaga dress that exuded drama and sophistication. While I’m still holding a grudge against Demna for putting Michelle Yeoh in that hideous dress-made-of-jackets at the Critics’ Choice Awards, I have to admit that Souheila’s look was a major step in the right direction.

With a mix of timeless tailoring, refined minimalism, and bold pops of color, the 2025 César Film Awards delivered a night of quietly luxurious French fashion, as expected. Who was your favorite from this roundup?

Twiggy Talks About Dark Moments Behind Legendary Career

Iconic supermodel Twiggy has opened up about the personal struggles that have shaped her remarkable career, revealing the sadness she has faced throughout her life.

Known for becoming one of the most iconic faces in fashion during the 1960s, Twiggy’s life took a devastating turn in 1983 when her husband, Michael Witney, tragically passed away from a heart attack at just 52 years old. The couple shared a 47-year-old daughter, Carly, and his death left a deep emotional mark on the model’s life.

In a heartfelt conversation with Saga Magazine, Twiggy shared her reflections: “No, because life has lots of ups and downs. There has been lots of sadness in my life, but out of sadness... I got Carly, who is the best thing since sliced bread to me.”

Despite the heartbreaking loss of her first husband, the legendary fashion icon—whose real name is Dame Lesley Lawson—found love again with actor Leigh Lawson. The couple is still happily married today, though Twiggy admitted that when they first met, neither of them was actively seeking a partner.

In addition to the loss of her husband, Twiggy also endured the pain of losing both of her parents. In a particularly poignant moment, she recalls celebrating Carly’s fifth birthday when she received the news of Michael’s passing, an emotional experience that would forever shape her.

Throughout the years, Twiggy has remained an enduring symbol of strength, resilience, and grace, continuing to inspire both in the fashion world and beyond.

Celebrities at Prada Fall 2025 Show

Celebrities at Prada Fall 2025 Show

Prada's Women's Fall 2025 collection hit Milan with a front row full of celebrities delivering everything from high fashion to highly questionable choices. Some guests embraced the label's signature quirk, while others made us wonder if Milan had suddenly turned into a summer beach party.

Hunter Schafer’s Prada look should have made a bigger impact, but unfortunately, it felt like déjà vu. Emma Corrin wore a similar outfit in Miu Miu last year, and it had more of an effect back then. Prada’s Spring 2025 collection already felt like a game of “throw things together and hope for the best,” and this outfit falls victim to that philosophy. Instead of looking effortless, it just feels like she's trying a little too hard. The pieces don’t seem to connect.

Styled by Dara Allen.

Danielle Deadwyler’s look gave off major beach vibes, which would be great if she was headed to the Amalfi Coast instead of a Prada show. Beach chic floral maxi dresses are more suitable for the Film Independent Spirit Awards, but this was actual beachwear—a bikini top and sarong paired with a bomber jacket. I love Danielle, but this choice just didn’t work. After a solid three-look winning streak, this one felt like a misstep.

Styled by Wayman + Micah.

Charli D’Amelio's Prada Spring 2025 outfit was made for her TikTok generation, but that’s exactly where it should stay. I can’t imagine anyone—no matter how famous—selling this look to me. Not even Zendaya could make it work.

Juliette Binoche showed that Prada was handing out full outfits, not just random pieces that looked like they came from three different showrooms. She kept it classic, layered up, and season-appropriate—remember, we are still in Fall.

Gal Gadot's Prada look wasn't meant to resemble a school uniform, but the knee-length socks pushed it firmly in that direction. It gave off "teacher’s pet with an edge" vibes, which wasn’t the strongest impression.

If anyone was going to deliver a quirky Prada moment, I would have bet on Maya Hawke. While her bright red trousers weren’t understated, the overall look still felt restrained—at least by her standards. I was expecting a bit more eccentricity, more of that Prada oddball energy, but instead, we got something surprisingly safe.

Styled by Harry Lambert.

Simone Ashley embraced a high school graduate look, and honestly? I’m into it.

Styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray.

Prada’s front row was a mix of hit-and-miss moments, proving once again that Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons like keeping us on our toes. Some guests nailed it, others missed the mark, and a few left us wondering if they’d checked the weather forecast before getting dressed.

Prints and Punk Among ‘Versace Superheroes’ at Milan Fashion Week

MILAN — Versace blended prints, sharp tailoring, and punk elements in its latest collection at Milan Fashion Week, while speculation continued over a potential sale of the Italian luxury brand.

Designer Donatella Versace kicked off the autumn-winter 2025 show on Friday night at a Milan tram depot, debuting three puffy creations, including a ball gown, adorned with leopard print and the brand’s iconic house motifs. Following this, a range of sharp black trouser suits, dresses, and jackets, often featuring pointy shoulders, took the stage.

Contrasting silk printed shirts and short skirts paired with black tops or bottoms added a playful edge to the collection. For the men, these shirts were teamed with black leather trousers. Brightly-colored jackets featured triangular pockets, while slinky dresses showcased the brand’s signature evening glamour. Accessories, including studded gloves and caps, introduced a punk-inspired twist to the look.

“This is a collection of Versace Superheroes,” Donatella Versace explained. “Our house codes are recognized all over the world and make us so strong. I love clothes that empower, that give strength and confidence. Everyone should have a little Versace attitude. With this collection, I am not following any rules, only the rules of the Versace DNA.”

Meanwhile, Versace’s parent company, Capri Holdings (CPRI.N), is reportedly exploring a potential sale of the brand. Sources have suggested that fellow Italian fashion giant Prada (1913.F) is among the interested buyers and has already been granted access to Versace’s financial data. On Thursday, Miuccia Prada confirmed that numerous fashion companies have expressed interest.

Earlier this week, Renzo Rosso, the founder of Italian fashion group Only The Brave (OTB), revealed in an interview with the Italian newspaper MF that he, too, is keen on acquiring Versace.

Elon Musk Welcomes His 14th Child with Shivon Zilis

By Reuters | Images Staff | March 1, 2025

Billionaire Elon Musk has welcomed his 14th child, a son named Seldon Lycurgus, with Shivon Zilis, an executive at his company Neuralink. This adds to the growing number of Musk’s children, as he and Zilis already have three other children together.

Zilis shared the news in a post on X, saying, “Discussed with Elon and, in light of beautiful Arcadia’s birthday, we felt it was better to also just share directly about our wonderful and incredible son Seldon Lycurgus.” However, she did not reveal when Seldon was born. Musk responded with a heart emoji in response to the announcement.

Zilis’ announcement comes just two weeks after conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair revealed that she, too, recently had a child with Musk.

The public learned about Musk and Zilis’ relationship as co-parents in 2022 when court documents revealed they secretly welcomed twins, Strider and Azure, in November 2021. Their third child, Arcadia, was born on February 28, 2024.

A source close to the couple told People that Musk “really loves Shivon.”

Musk’s family also includes three children with musician Claire "Grimes" Boucher: son X Æ A-12, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, and son Techno Mechanicus (Tau). Despite initial tensions between Grimes and Zilis due to their overlapping children, the two women have since reconciled. In September 2023, Grimes shared that they had connected and resolved their differences, with Zilis expressing her excitement for future playdates between their children.

Musk also has five older children from his previous marriage to author Justine Wilson: twins Vivian and Griffin, 20, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, 19. Tragically, Musk’s first child with Wilson, Nevada Alexander, passed away as an infant in 2002.

Annual Khalid and Burrah Discuss Their Cross-Border Collaboration ‘Mumtaaz’

Indian singer Burrah and Pakistani pop sensation Annural Khalid have teamed up for a new love ballad titled Mumtaaz. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone India, the two artists shared insights into the creation of the track and their experiences collaborating across borders.

Khalid, known for her soulful ballads, expressed her fondness for “sad love songs,” particularly those exploring “unfinished, unreciprocated love.” She added with a chuckle, “We both turned out to be sadbois from within.”

Burrah, a fan of Khalid’s music, reflected on his admiration for her work, particularly her hit Coke Studio performance of Jhol with Lahore-based rapper and singer Maanu. “It helps when you’re working with someone you’re a fan of,” Burrah explained. “Then, you enter with your ego diminished, and there’s a mutual respect for each other’s ideas—an unconditionality there.”

According to Rolling Stone India, Mumtaaz was created at composer-producer Sunny MR’s studio in Mumbai during a songwriting camp organized by Warner Music India for Burrah’s upcoming album. Burrah enlisted his frequent collaborator, Youngveer, to assist with the track.

Burrah described how the song quickly came together: “Everyone came into the room and saw how this desolate-looking space had come to life with our song in just 15 minutes. By the end, there were five or six people dancing to the track, so we knew we had something special.”

Khalid, upon receiving the demo version of the song, connected with its themes of unrequited love. “Everybody’s energies made this track so special,” she said. “The idea of unreciprocated love helped break the ice between us. It was all very natural. Neither of us have egos like that, and that helped the process.”

For Burrah, having Khalid on board encouraged him to explore deeper angles in the song, including the themes of Partition. He noted that the first draft of the song was more about personal heartbreak, but when Khalid joined, the narrative shifted. “I had a wake-up moment,” Burrah said. “I thought, ‘Let’s make the story about heartbreak in Punjab.’”

He visualized a poignant tale of lovers torn apart by the Partition, a painful chapter in South Asian history. “It’s dedicated to probably one of the worst things that has happened to our nations—our lands getting divided because of ego and forces beyond our comprehension.”

Looking ahead, Khalid shared her excitement about future collaborations with Indian artists and the release of her solo album, which has been in the works for over a year. “There’s no point in overthinking it,” she said. “The more you overthink, the more it stays with you.”

Burrah, on the other hand, teased his upcoming projects, including a “very big LP” set for release next year. In 2025, he will also drop an EP in April, which he described as “a deeper, slightly more vulnerable experience with me as an artist.”

Jack Whitehall Mocks ITV 'Cancel Culture' in Opening Monologue at BRIT Awards 2025

Jack Whitehall Mocks ITV 'Cancel Culture' in Opening Monologue at BRIT Awards 2025 Amid Gino D'Acampo 'Misconduct' Controversy

Jack Whitehall wasted no time in taking a cheeky dig at ITV and its recent controversies just moments into his opening monologue at the 2025 BRIT Awards.

Returning to host the prestigious ceremony after several years (having presented from 2018 to 2021), Whitehall’s humor was as sharp as ever as the show aired live on ITV.

The comedian poked fun at ITV's recent string of high-profile presenter departures, particularly Gino D'Acampo and Phillip Schofield, who have both been embroiled in controversies that have rocked the network.

In his opening remarks, Whitehall quipped: "ITV had so many of its presenters cancelled this year, they had to come crawling back to an ex." The remark was a clear jab at the series of scandals that have plagued the channel in recent years, including Schofield’s resignation in 2023 after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague.

Whitehall also referenced the recent controversy surrounding chef Gino D'Acampo, whose shows were pulled from ITV’s schedule in February following allegations of “sexually inappropriate behavior,” which he denies.

Continuing his opening monologue, Whitehall couldn't resist mocking the commercial nature of the awards show itself, adding: “It’s the night of the year that we celebrate artistic integrity by throwing a party paid for by a credit card company, in an arena sponsored by a phone network, on a channel that brought you Tipping Point.”

Whitehall also took the opportunity to tease some of the stars in the audience, starting with rapper Stormzy, who was nominated for two BRIT Awards. “In the 90s, you’d find your rappers doing drive-bys, but this one you'll find at the drive-thru,” Whitehall joked, referencing Stormzy's recent partnership with McDonald’s. "We didn’t send him a limo tonight, we Deliverood him here. It's Stormzy."

The comedian also riffed on Coldplay’s nominations, calling their music “a warm bath” and describing their songs as "a big old bowl of soggy Weetabix"—a sharp critique of the band’s sound. Whitehall continued, “If there was a level below lemon and herb, they would be it,” before sarcastically adding, “Nominated again tonight, it's public school Nickelback - Coldplay.”

Though Whitehall’s remarks were playful and comedic, they clearly struck a chord with the audience, with a mix of chuckles and gasps filling the O2 Arena.

Gene Hackman’s Daughters Seen Dining Out One Day After His Passing

Just one day after the news of Gene Hackman’s death, his daughters, Elizabeth and Leslie, were seen out in public.

According to Daily Mail, the sisters were spotted entering a Denny's restaurant, an all-day breakfast chain, on Thursday. Despite the tragic loss, the pair appeared composed and were even seen smiling as they left the venue.

Before his passing, the sisters had described their father, who was 95, as “reclusive but in good health.” In an interview, Leslie mentioned that the family was still awaiting official confirmation on the cause of Hackman’s death and was beginning the process of grieving.

The legendary Hollywood actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 64, were found dead in separate rooms of their Santa Fe home, alongside their dogs, after a welfare check was requested by a maintenance worker. Reports suggest that Hackman and his wife had been deceased for several days before their bodies were discovered on February 26, 2025.

As of now, the official cause of death has not been confirmed.

Red Carpet in Pictures: Teddy Swims and Sabrina Carpenter Arrive at the BRITs

The BRIT Awards red carpet was as vibrant as ever, with some of the biggest names in music stepping out for the U.K.’s biggest night in music.

Sabrina Carpenter, Jade Thirlwall, and Teddy Swims stole the spotlight with their striking outfits.

Teddy Swims, nominated for International Song of the Year for his track “Lose Control”, stayed true to his name, arriving on the red carpet covered in teddy bears and toys. With the chilly weather at the O2 Arena, his playful, cozy look was a smart choice.

Sabrina Carpenter was already a winner by the time she hit the red carpet, having been awarded the Global Success accolade — the first international artist to receive this honor. The Please Please Please singer, who also opened the show, will be heading out on a UK and Ireland tour in the coming weeks.

Charli XCX, who won big that night, also made an impact on the red carpet, though there was no Brat green in sight. The Essex-born singer took home five awards during the evening.

Jade Thirlwall stunned in a breathtaking gown, which she described as a "denim wedding dress." The former Little Mix member, who was nominated for Best Pop Act and Song of the Year, opened up about her new solo journey and the inspiration behind her song “Angel of My Dreams”, which reflects on her "toxic relationship with the music industry."

Davina McCall made a stunning appearance in an all-black ensemble, just weeks after revealing she had undergone surgery for a rare benign tumor. She had more to celebrate, announcing her new BBC dating show.

FLO, the British girl group, graced the red carpet in matching outfits. Stella Quaresma, Renee Downer, and Jorja Douglas, who were nominated for Best R&B Act, shared their excitement about their upcoming tour, working with Beyoncé's dance captain, Amari Marshall.

KSI, the rapper and YouTuber, opted for a sleek all-black leather look. Despite being “clowned for” his song “Thick of It”, which was nominated for Song of the Year, KSI has kept a packed schedule, balancing music, YouTube, and even a fight later this month.

The Last Dinner Party, winners of last year’s Rising Star award, turned heads in their stunning red carpet looks. The band — Aurora Nishevci, Emily Roberts, Abigail Morris, Georgia Davies, and Lizzie Mayland — were nominated for four awards this year, including Album and Group of the Year.

CMAT (Clara Mary-Alice Thompson) shone in a gold dress, proving that sometimes simplicity is all you need to stand out on the red carpet. Though she wasn’t nominated this year, her striking outfit was worthy of recognition.

Ezra Collective, with band members Ife Ogunjobi, TJ Koleoso, Femi Koleoso, Joe Armon-Jones, and James Mollison, looked effortlessly cool in matching all-black outfits. They completed the look with sunglasses, shielding themselves from the flashing lights of the photographers.

Bring Me The Horizon, last year’s Best Alternative/Rock Act, also showed off their stylish all-black looks as they arrived for their nominations for Best Group.

Jorja Smith, fresh from promoting her new single “Crush” with AJ Tracey, turned heads in a sleek black and blue leather-look dress, adding to the star-studded lineup on the red carpet.

Alex Scott and Jess Glynne, often seen together at London Fashion Week, showed off their couple style, with Alex wearing a chic black-and-white outfit and Jess in a bold burnt orange dress.

Millie Bobby Brown dazzled in a silver gown, making a rare appearance at the BRITs after attending the SAG Awards and promoting her new film The Electric State in Los Angeles.

Finally, Stormzy, the winner of Best Rap Act, made a unique red carpet statement in sunglasses, explaining that he had “mashed up my eye” while playing padel. Despite the injury, the rapper was in high spirits as he claimed his fourth BRIT Award.

Liam Payne Honored at BRIT Awards: ‘Incredibly Kind Soul Who Touched the Lives of Everyone’

LONDON, ENGLAND - MARCH 1: The 2025 BRIT Awards paid tribute to Liam Payne on Saturday, honoring the late star who tragically passed away in October 2024 at the age of 31.

During an emotional segment towards the end of the ceremony, host Jack Whitehall addressed the audience, saying, “It’s time to take a moment to remember a very special person who meant so much to so many people in this room, and to millions around the world.”

He continued, “Last October, we woke up to the devastating news that Liam Payne had tragically passed away. He achieved so much in the short time that he was on this Earth, and was not only a supremely gifted musician, but an incredibly kind soul who touched the lives of everyone he came into contact with. We have so many amazing memories of Liam here at the BRITs, so tonight, we celebrate his legacy, look back, and remember the remarkable Liam Payne.”

A touching video montage followed, showcasing moments of Payne’s career, from his days with One Direction to family moments, meeting the Queen, and much more. The montage was soundtracked by One Direction’s “Little Things.”

After the tribute, Payne’s One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson shared his appreciation on social media, posting, “Beautiful tribute. Miss you always, brother x.”

Throughout his career, Payne won seven BRIT Awards, including four for British Video of the Year with One Direction. He was also nominated for his solo work, including “Strip That Down” with Quavo and “For You” with Rita Ora.

In addition to the BRITs, the Grammys also honored Payne during their In Memoriam segment, featuring a video tribute accompanied by Coldplay’s Chris Martin performing “All My Love.”

Payne tragically died on October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Rolling Stone’s March cover story investigated the tragedy surrounding his passing.

Sabrina Carpenter Opens 2025 BRIT Awards with ‘Espresso’ & ‘Bed Chem,’ Accepts Global Success Honor

LONDON, ENGLAND - MARCH 1: Sabrina Carpenter kicked off the 2025 BRIT Awards with a vibrant medley of “Espresso” and “Bed Chem” at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night, captivating the audience with her playful and sultry performance.

The American pop star, who would later be honored with the Global Success Award, turned up the heat with a flirtatious set that referenced British culture, including the Union Jack and the King’s Guard. She transitioned seamlessly from a sparkling, British-inspired bodysuit into a red negligee and lacy lingerie, while perched atop a heart-shaped bed on stage. The performance, which was broadcast live on ITV1 and streamed on ITVX in the U.K. and the BRITs’ official YouTube channel elsewhere, kept the crowd on their feet with sultry synchronized choreography.

During “Espresso”, Carpenter was surrounded by dancers dressed as marching guards. She later winked at the audience as she performed “Bed Chem”, cleverly using a camera trick to imply that she was seducing a member of the King’s Guard. Judging by his playful wink, it was safe to say her efforts were successful.

Later in the evening, Carpenter was awarded the Global Success Honor, presented to her by Millie Bobby Brown. Brown, who is currently on tour with Carpenter, joked that after watching the steamy BRITs performance, Carpenter should be the one handcuffed on stage—referencing a bit that Brown does during her Short n’ Sweet tour with another performer.

Introducing Carpenter to the BRITs crowd, Brown said, “She’s the woman who keeps us all hot and bothered.”

In her acceptance speech, Carpenter reflected on her journey, recalling her first trip to the U.K. 10 years ago, when she was just starting out and only a few people knew who she was. “This week, I get to headline the O2 because of you guys,” she said. Carpenter is set to perform at the iconic venue on March 8 and 9 as part of the European leg of her tour.

Before leaving the stage, Carpenter, known for her dry humor, added, “In a country that loves its tea, you guys streamed the [explicit] out of ‘Espresso.’”

She closed her speech with gratitude, saying, “This is all because of you, and this is for you. Thank you so much. Cheerio!”

Charli XCX Turns BRIT Awards into ‘Brat’ Awards as Host Danny Dyer Slams Chappell Roan and Prime Minister Keir Starmer

LONDON, ENGLAND - MARCH 01: Charli XCX claimed five prestigious awards at the 2025 BRIT Awards, including Album of the Year for her critically acclaimed album Brat. The U.K. music industry’s biggest night was dominated by the singer-songwriter-producer, whose 2024 album swept the board and cemented her as one of the year's top artists.

Despite her huge success — and the widespread meme culture surrounding her Brat Summer — Charli's decision to forgo a live performance at the ceremony was a notable absence. She was present at the O2 Arena, having recently performed at the Grammys, but chose not to take the stage at her homecoming show. This decision left some fans and organizers wondering about her absence from the performance lineup.

Jack Whitehall, returning as the host for the evening, poked fun at Charli’s choice, quipping that her decision to skip the performance in favor of “getting drunk” was the most British thing ever. While her absence was a surprising moment, Charli's recognition for her work was more than enough to make the night hers.

The ceremony also had its share of controversy. Host Danny Dyer made headlines with scathing remarks aimed at Chappell Roan and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. His unexpected comments added an element of tension to the night, overshadowing some of the usual glitz and glamour of the awards.

With Charli XCX leading the charge and the evening filled with dramatic moments, the BRIT Awards 2025 certainly lived up to its reputation as a night of unforgettable surprises.

Matthew Lillard Joins Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 in Mystery Role

Daredevil: Born Again may not even have premiered its first season yet—set to debut on Disney+ on March 4—but details are already emerging about season 2. Filming for the next batch of episodes will begin next week in New York, and the big news is that Matthew Lillard, known for his roles in Scream and Five Nights at Freddy's, is joining the cast in an undisclosed role.

Lillard will appear alongside Charlie Cox, who returns as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Season 1 consists of nine episodes, continuing the story after Daredevil's cancellation on Netflix in 2018. In this season, Matt has retired from his vigilante life and immersed himself in legal work, while Fisk has his sights set on becoming the mayor of New York City. Yet both men continue to grapple with inner demons, which threaten to resurface.

Other familiar faces from the Netflix series returning for season 1 include Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher. There’s also a connection to Hawkeye, with Tony Dalton reprising his role as Jack Duquesne, aka the Swordsman.

Showrunner Dario Scardapane, who worked on Netflix’s The Punisher, has previously teased that season 2 will serve as "part 2 of season 1," offering new and exciting directions for the story. He also hinted that the serial killer Muse, whose casting is still under wraps, will have a ripple effect that extends beyond the first season’s events.

In addition to Daredevil, fans can look forward to Jon Bernthal returning as the Punisher in a standalone Marvel special for Disney+ that he’s co-writing with We Own This City collaborator Reinaldo Marcus Green.

Lillard’s casting is a major moment in his career resurgence. He’ll also return to the Scream franchise for the highly anticipated seventh film and star in the Five Nights at Freddy's sequel.

With filming set to start soon, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for the Daredevil universe.

Katie Lowes on How Her Husband Responds to Her 'Dirty, Dirty'

Katie Lowes on How Her Husband Responds

Scandal star Katie Lowes shared some hilarious and brutally honest advice for her husband, actor Adam Shapiro, on how to handle watching her steamy onscreen moments. During an appearance on Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach and Donald, Lowes was asked about the intimate scenes she filmed on Scandal and if her husband ever experienced jealousy over her "fake TV sex."

"You know, we get asked that a lot," Lowes admitted. "When he married me, he thought, 'Oh, s---, I’m kind of falling for the girl that always has a love story surrounding her, and this is just going to be a part of this.' And he doesn't really get those kinds of roles, but he actually has gotten jealous. He has now."

But Lowes had no sympathy for her husband when it came to her steamy scenes, joking, "He's just gotta f---ing close his eyes and deal with it, man. I mean, the check clears, you know? Like, get over it. I mean, that's my job and, like, it's f---ing awkward anyway."

While Shapiro may have had moments of jealousy, Lowes suggested that any concerns were likely lessened by the actors she was paired with on the show. "I think on that show, I was very lucky to be paired with a much older gentleman, George Newbern [who played Charlie], that we love and is a dear friend, and he probably wasn't much threatened by," Lowes said, adding with a laugh, "although he's a very handsome catch for everybody listening, and he's happily married and blah blah blah."

She also pointed out that her other main love interest, Guillermo Diaz, who played Huck, is openly gay. "So, I think that helped a little bit," she said.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Lowes discussed her Broadway debut in Waitress, how she relied on her experience giving birth to push through nerves during rehearsals, and her side hustle, Schappy Pretzel, which took off during the pandemic. She also shared her love for the show Smash and how she prepared for a Broadway show in just 18 days.

Hudson, known for her iconic roles in Almost Famous and rom-coms like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, brings her signature charm and comedic timing to this complex character.

"She's very high strung, really feels like she has a lot to prove constantly and hopes for validation from her family," Hudson shared.

Drew Tarver as Sandy Gordon

Drew Tarver plays Sandy Gordon, Isla's brother and the Waves' CFO. Known for his work on The Other Two, Tarver’s character is the “straight man” of the show, although his efforts to keep everything in order often result in chaos. Tarver excels at playing the reluctant voice of reason.

"I think despite him trying to keep everything on the rails, gripping it so hard is what ends up making him come off the rails," Tarver explained.

Scott MacArthur as Ness Gordon

Ness Gordon, portrayed by Scott MacArthur, is another one of Isla's siblings and the Waves' general manager. A former athlete, he brings both humor and heart to the role. Known for his work on The Mick and The Righteous Gemstones, MacArthur plays the character with a blend of likability and dim-witted charm.

Chet Hanks as Travis Bugg

Travis Bugg, a troubled Waves player played by Chet Hanks, has a knack for rapping and making headlines for the wrong reasons. Hanks, known for his controversial personal life, brings his own flair to the role.

Toby Sandeman plays Marcus Winfield, a star player for the Waves with two championship rings. Marcus is navigating the pressures of fame, athleticism, and his personal life. Sandeman, a former athlete, uses his own experience to bring authenticity to the character.

"I think Marcus Winfield is going through that [balancing competitiveness with the love of the game]," Sandeman noted.

Jay Ellis as Jay Brown

Jay Brown, played by Jay Ellis, is the coach of the Waves. A former college basketball player himself, Ellis brings his athletic background to the role, creating a character who's both driven and empathetic toward his players.

"I thought about injuries, like guys who had gotten hurt," Ellis reflected on drawing from his real-life experiences for the role.

Jon Glaser as Sean Murphy

Jon Glaser plays Sean Murphy, a caustic sports commentator and one of Isla's most vocal critics. Known for his roles in Parks and Recreation and Girls, Glaser's comedic chops shine as the character who challenges Isla at every turn.

Justin Theroux as Cam Gordon

Finally, Cam Gordon, portrayed by Justin Theroux, is the eldest of the Gordon siblings and Isla's primary obstacle. After going to rehab, Cam names Isla as his successor, setting the stage for her rise to power. Theroux, known for his roles in The Leftovers and White House Plumbers, brings depth and intensity to the character.

"Theroux brings a mix of brash magnetism and commanding frankness to his recurring appearances as Cam," EW's review stated.

Introduction

Alexandra Daddario, known for her roles in Mayfair Witches and The White Lotus, has responded to the persistent rumors and criticism regarding her acting skills. In a new interview with Elle, Daddario firmly rejected the notion that she's a bad actress, offering a strong defense of her career and talents.

Daddario's Defense of Her Acting Talent

The 38-year-old actress acknowledged that some of the projects she's been involved in may not have showcased her talent in the best light. She explained, "I'm not a bad actress. I've just done some projects that don't showcase me in the way that I should be showcased, okay?" She continued, emphasizing the importance of directors and writing in shaping her performances, adding, "Sometimes I'm lit poorly, but I'm not a bad actress."

To solidify her point, Daddario proudly reminded her critics of her Emmy nomination, stating, "I got an Emmy nomination. How do you think I did that?"

Emmy Nomination for "The White Lotus"

Daddario earned her 2022 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her portrayal of Rachel Patton in The White Lotus. Her character, a journalist on her honeymoon in Maui, faces the challenges of an unfulfilling marriage. Although the award ultimately went to her co-star Jennifer Coolidge for her iconic role as Tanya, Daddario's performance was still widely praised.

Most Humiliating Celebrity Moment

In her interview, Daddario also recalled the most humiliating thing she had ever said to another celebrity early in her career. At the time, she was discussing the supposed superiority of movie actresses over TV actresses. The conversation took a turn when she realized Christina Applegate was nearby, someone who was highly experienced in television acting. Applegate, known for her roles in Married... With Children, Samantha Who?, and Dead to Me, corrected Daddario, making her feel embarrassed.

Daddario confessed, "I was like 23 years old, saying 'being in a movie is better than being on TV' to someone who's, like, part of some of the best television in the world." Reflecting on the moment, she added, "I still think about it. I'm still embarrassed by it."

Conclusion

Alexandra Daddario's response to the criticism about her acting talent is both candid and confident. She points to her Emmy nomination as undeniable proof of her skills, while also sharing an endearing, humbling story about her early career. Fans continue to appreciate her versatility in both television and film, with Daddario proving that she's much more than the roles she's sometimes been given.
